Hi guys, I've been looking at getting an SL7 for a few months now and seen recently the prices have jumped up again in the UK.

I know traditionally, purchasing a ready built bike can work out cheaper than buying a frameset and individual parts at retail, but these new prices from Specialized seem to completely contradict that.

Can somebody tell me if I'm missing something here: https://www.specializedconceptstore.co. ... -etap-axs/ (£8500)

If we say best case,

Roval CL Wheels : £1200

Force ETAP Groupset w/ Power Meter: £2500 (seen for cheaper than this)

Saddle, Bars: £500

Total (without frame): £4200 (leaving £4300)

It’s not an S-Works bike and the S-Works framesets are available for just over £4k. It’s like they’re pricing in the same price for a standard Tarmac 10r frame.

I know the Specialized brand carries a premium, I’m just trying to find the logic in their pricing between framesets and complete builds. Hard to make sense of it, even at last years price of £7900.

Thanks

For that reason I have built my S-works SL7 myself. Price of a complete bike is higher than for the individual parts.
Normally, it is the opposite way for other brands, but not for Specialized.
So why do people buy it :noidea:

I went for rainbow chrome decals for my shy dusty blue frameset. Satisfied.

Anyone know how much one of these weighs in size 61 and the SL frame set not the s works frame set with an electronic groupset?
I keep finding reviews with size 54 and 56.

I just got news in my email of that special edition frame. So apparently they have frames in stock to create a new special edition but a frameset that we orderd back in Jan 2022 is still not fulfilled. Is this Specialized business model?

Replica of Remco's frameset:

49,52,58 still in stock on US spesh site. Hmm Spesh can not even sell 100 special edition frames...

Absolutely normal for Specialized as well as other companies, especially if you're in a smaller country / order through a smaller dealer.
Minimum bike categories required in the stable:
Aero bike | GC bike | GC rim bike | Climbing bike | Climbing rim bike | Classics bike | Gravel bike | TT bike | Indoors bike

the email I got says the Remco frames are pre-order... so arguably, they don't have those frames in stock either, at the moment.

Guess it's just business. I read online that some orders are being cancelled already (hopefully not my girlfriend's yet). However, Spesh apparently has 'raw material' to make these special edition frame but doesn't have the material to fulfill existing order all the way back to January.

Does anyone know if there are any aftermarket headset bearings that will last longer than the original ones?

I bought an S-Works SL7 and I'm now realizing that while my spare Pirelli SmarTubes are awesome the air valves are only 60mm -- not likely to work well with the rear 60mm depth Rapide CLX wheel. It looks like Tubolito has an 80mm version but it's actually a 40mm valve plus a 40mm extender. Anyone have experience with those on Rapide CLX 60mm wheels? From what I can tell RevoLoop sells an 80mm verion but it seems sourcing those tubes is much more difficult (in the US).

Any recommendations for TPU tubes? Do I need an 80mm valve for the rear?
