Currently looking at buying a SL7 frame to build up but wondered does anyone know when the SL8 "could be" released?. I realise the reality of supply will be the same as the SL7 given the worldwide conditions but was curious to see when we would typically see the new iteration. Thanks.
It looks like Spesh released a new model every 3 years.
Going to be interesting what they are going for this time.
More light weight and/or more aero?

I posted this in another thread but I'm gonna repost it here just cuz. Still 100% happy with the bike! I wipe it off, air up the tires, and ride it, that's about it at this point.

Tarmac sizing questions: would you guys size up or down?

I'm 183cm/6ft. According to Specialized they'd spec me on a 58cm frame. Looking at stack/reach figures I'd need zero spacers and probably the 10cm stem they include.

I've straddled and ridden a 56 and it seemed like the size I'd normally choose. I'd need 2-2.5cm of spacers and an 11cm stem to fit it.

Any thoughts?

It's also curious that Specialized ships all of their frames with a 10cm stem. Is their design philosphy a longer reach and a shorter stem?

The bike fits pretty normal, so the 100mm seems short. My bike I posted above has 785mm saddle height and 120mm stem, 56cm frame. I am about the same height as you.

I'm asking because of specialized's stated sizing (180-188cm = 58cm).

I also ask about the stem because Specialized ships ever 54 and 56 with a 10cm stem. They ship the 58 with a 11. I wonder if that is part of their design philosophy. The reach on the 56 Tarmac is around 13mm longer than my Colnago on which I currently ride a 12cm stem. On a 56 it kind of puts me between the 10 and 11cm stems to achieve the same total reach.

Depends how much saddle to bar drop you want. To me the 56cm tarmac fits very much like a typical 56cm frame. I think someone our height could go either way but for me the 58 would be taller up front than I prefer and have a shorter stem than I'm used to so I wouldn't do it. My only issue which is a minor one is that I'm basically at the limit of setback, but it's fine since it's within range. Personally you couldn't pay me to change my fit and the contact points might as well be bonded together forever at this point since I'm never going to change it lol, so I don't need any more flexibility in adjustments.

A lot easier to make the bike bigger rather than smaller!

Try and get a test if that is at all possible

Im 178cm
54cm frame
Top of Seat to centre of BB 740cm
In-line seat post
120cm -12deg stem with 20mm of spacers
Saddle tip to back of levers 720cm
And saddle set back from centre of BB to tip of saddle 87cm
S Works SL8 54cm 5.94kgs
Winspace SLC M Ultegra R8150 no idea of kgs

Go with 56, I have 58 with 193 cm, going size up is history.

The white is white! with a metallic finish
How come the cables are entering through the top cap, rather then along the stem and hidden by the spacers?
