Hello guys,
I'm searching for an idea to find an alternative for the gel tape for handelbar like FIZIK ou PRO gel tape.
I'm sure that there is something much more economical in our daily life that could do the same job...

Thanks for your ideas

Get one of the shoe inserts sold at drugstores and trim it to size, tape underneath regular bar tape. A common brand is dr scholls in the US. The gel pads won’t work cause you’d cut through the gel walls but the foam ones won’t have such problems.

Thanks for your anwer. Shoes inserts have probably the perfect gel density but I'm not sure is it a lot economical than specific bar tape.

You could always double or triple wrap using the cheaper tapes under it and then the one of your choice at the top.

Just one idea, haven't tried....
Make mold using cardboard and tape (maybe 3 minutes job...) Buy some silicone (maybe some childrens toy slime/clay might work as well) and put it to mold. Smooth the surface and let it cure.
Trim the silicone plate with scissors or knife to desired shape.

Sink sound damping kits have their own adhesive and would be easy to cut to fit.

Great idea but don't you think that carpet will eventually get bogged down over time? I drive almost 25000kms every year.

Consider how much weight you put on your feet vs hands; unless you put most of your weigh on the handlebar when you're riding.
