This! Looks beautiful, very smart! Can you let me know which specific Carbon-Ti chain ring model is this? Also, which inner ring are you using and how's the shifting performance?Keykey1985 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2024 11:30 amStraight in, used one of the provided spacers on the non-drive side, no problems with installation.skidz wrote: ↑Wed Jul 24, 2024 6:43 pmI think this looks great. Considering getting the same. Any additional faff installing them or can I literally just switch them straight out for my shimano crankset?? Had any issues with them?Keykey1985 wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 10:10 amWas concerned the crank arms might look a little bulbous but they suit the profile of a big tubed aero frame quite well.
Pleased with how the Rotor chainrings match with the spider but will be putting some Carbon Ti rings on in about a month anyway.
Only issue I have and not sure if it is related to the crank or not, I have a slight oscillation in the chainrings. It’s difficult to measure but it’s about a 1mm swing at the teeth on the big ring.
Changed the outer ring to a Carbon Ti ring and the issue is still there, thought it might be a bent spider so swapped it for the Cybrei spider but that makes no difference.
My BB bearings are on the way out so I’m going to change those and see if that solves it. I’m using a BBInfintie 386evo to 24mm so there’s no issue with the BB itself.
The Cybrei spider matched really well with the Carbon Ti chainring but the fit is a bit loose compared to the Skypivot spider. Either the Skypivot spider is undersized or the Cybrei spider is oversized.
Thanks!

It's a 52t X-CarboRing EVO 4-Arm for R9100, I've paired it with a 36t Ultegra inner ring. Can't properly comment on the shifting as I still haven't solved what's causing the wobble. At the moment the shifting is 50/50. If I shift at certain points it feels as good as a Dura Ace ring but if I shift where the wobble occurs it's really hesitant unless I back of the power, in which case it's 'ok'. If I didn't have this issue I'm pretty sure the shifting would be spot on.
Hoping to finally have this solved in the next couple of weeks, just awaiting some new parts.

Oh, ok. Hopefully you'll have it sorted out eventually.
I have just ordered Carbon Ti chainrings, but version "CARBON-TI Chainring X-CarboRing EVO BCD 110 asymmetric 4 arms" (https://r2-bike.com/CARBON-TI-Chainring ... Outer-Ring), not the Shimano specific ones (https://r2-bike.com/CARBON-TI-Chainring ... g-54-Teeth).
I ordered those based on the recommendation from the PandaPodium guys, they said it would be aesthetically better fit. Wondering if the Carbon ti R9100 specific interface with the spider might be causing the problems with the oscillation your're experiencing?
Then again, getting the Shimano specific chainrings is a better option as they can make use of Shimano cranks too, if needed.
Could you post a couple of close up pictures showing the chainring/spider interface?
Thank you!

Unfortunately I needed a replacement crank set. I thought the BB bearings were causing some play but the play was actually due to an undersized axle. The axle measured about 23.9mm on my vernier.
Took it my my LBS for an independent assessment and sent that off to Panda Podium along with a couple of photos and a video. PP were excellent, they didn't put up any resistance and I had a replacement in 2 weeks which is less than half the time I had to wait for Shimano to replace my 2 failed Dura Ace cranks!
The new crank set is infinitely better, play is gone and as far as I can tell, the chainrings now run true with the shifting improved significantly.
I had intended to get the standard Carbon Ti rings but the Dura Ace version had a much shorter lead time and I thought they would look ok if I used the Cybrei spider, which it kind of does from most angles.

If anything, the new spindle might be ever so slightly oversized. Measuring on my own cheap vernier was inconclusive and I haven't taken it back to my LBS.
The new crank required a lot more effort to get into the BB and when in I realised I had to remove it as there was not enough room for the spacer I originally used, not sure what's different but with this new crank I need to use the slimmest spacer provided.
When removing the crank I needed to tap it out all the way with a rubber mallet, it was impossible to remove by hand.
I've done two very short rides so far with a couple of efforts, early days but no creaks so I'm hoping that's a sign that it isn't oversized or oversized to an intolerable point. I'll update when I've had a few more rides and the fresh grease has been worked around.
Overall though I really like this crank, it looks great, feels solid and it's so much quieter than the Dura Ace crank it replaced (due to Shimano HollowTech). Hopefully it lasts.
