I've been thinking about getting an F12. When I run my current bike (Specialized Venge) through bikegeo.net, inputting top tube, head tube, angles, etc, the calculator spits out the stack and reach that Specialized indicate.

But when I input the data for an F12 (in a 51.5), the stack and reach are way off what Pinarello indicate.

Short of getting my hands on the bike itself, any ideas? More likely Pinarello have misstated one of the individual components (the HT length looks very short) or more likely their stack/reach are off?

Thanks!

Although I have not checked the Pinarello in size 51.5, I have an F8 size 55 (same geometry to the F10 and F12) and I am currently looking at the Venge. I compared both with Bikegeocalc.com.

Clearly the Venge is longer than the Pinarello (more reach for equivalent stack). You can see on the following link the F8 size 55 compared to a Venge size 56 (used Shadow Bike ans Swap Bikes button to switch from one to the other).

I checked your statement to satisfy my curiousity!
I agree, that's so badly off!!

My Ax Lightness Vial EVO Race is 3mm off in stack and 2mm off in reach.
However, Ax sold their bikes with both 3T Rigida LTD (lenght 376mm/ rake 46) and THM CT (Lenght 372mm/ rake 45)

What we need to insert to get true stack at it's best, is each manufacturers headset top cover / dust cap, that covers the upper bearing.
These "caps" can vary quite alot. Ax uses a 5mm version.
If your frame uses a really long dust cap, you can highten stack up to 20mm.

I believe stack and reach are supposed to be to frame without top cap. That said, the top cap on the f12 is 2cm. So I tried inputting that. Still way off.

Yes, it's supposed to. Asked Canyon and their top cap (according to them) is/ was 27.5mm!!

Whoa - when I see the 27.5 on the Canyon fit site, I assume that's how many spacers it ships with. The topcap alone is 2.75?

Sounds more like they didn't understand your question. Canyon's road bikes ship with the steerer cut for 27.5 mm of spacers. The standard headset dust cover for bikes shipping with a one-piece cockpit is about 13 mm tall, while the optional low profile cover is maybe 4 mm.

Yes, it seems more resonable.
However, i asked how high the headset cover is. They told me 27.5mm.
I thought it seemed off :noidea:

@sethjs. What stack and reach did you get for the size 51.5 F12 when you imputed the data?

I had the same issue when trying to put my 54cm scott foil in, one of the dimensions wouldnt work. D
Thankfully just from looking at the numbers between the foil and the new addict I could see that the sizing hadn't changed and I've just been to physically check how much I need to chop the steerer by to make it the same as the foil with the same amount of drop. Luckily for the aesthetics gods it means it will be slammed

I was looking too for a f12.
When I compare it with the 54 sloping colnago, I couldn’t reach a decision.
I know that f12 is lower and longer but sizing of pinarello is a little confusing.
For me it’s not about stack. It’s the reach that I worry more. Any suggestions?

stop using geometrygeeks and start plugging the numbers into bikegeocalc. Add/remove spacers and change the stem lengths to understand the difference in reach/stack/hta

ps: the reach sizing is likely not changing linearly to what you expect due to ett because the STA and/or HTA is changing.

I am recommended 52S in Colnago and 55 Pinarello. I am 182cm.

@ Silvalis: I have no spacers on my 54s. Ok I’ll try the bikegeocalc.

@wheelonfire I’m 1.85m.

I’m fitness flexible and athletic but no way “race flexible”
