Surprised that you mention that the grip was poor with the corsa G2.0 TLR. Most people on here and other places say that they are brilliant for grip?

Maybe something to do with certain wheel/tyre widths?

Too high pressure maybe?

Unlikely. Pressure experiments ranged from 60 psi to 85 psi. My current weight is 160 lbs. Neither the 25mm TLR nor 28mm tubular ever gave me the confidence of my Veloflex. This includes short back to back rides on the same day and longer rides on back to back days.

The abundance of positive reviews online is a big part of what led me to try them. Unfortunately, my experience across ~600 miles of use just didn't agree.

Pardon my ignorance...both the Pro One and Pro One TT list “Maximum load: 70kg.” Hoping that’s something other than rider weight?

Probably shouldn't cause concern unless you mount it to your unicycle.

Pretty stoked on this tire right now. Went after a local descent that I've only ridden once before (on 28mm Corsa Control 2.0 w/ latex). The last time down I felt pretty good but a couple of the turns I didn't have quite enough trust in the tires. Today, missed the KOM by 2 seconds - and that was because I botched an entry on one turn. Grip never even entered my mind. Definitely looking forward to some longer rides and more varied terrain, but these tires might actually live up to the marketing claims (at least as far as handling).

What's all this talk of "suppleness" with the new tire?

I have a set of old Pro Ones that I ordered before the new ones were announced. I could still return them because I didn't take them out of the box. Is it worth getting the new ones instead, considering that they cost twice as much?

Yes.

I thought the first Pro Ones sucked (in terms of ride quality and grip). Which makes me even more surprised by the new ones. They definitely don't feel "supple" in the hand, but ride has been killer. Not far off the comfort of the 28mm cotton tires and latex I just took off - and handling is excellent.
