My current thru-axles are Giant brand being used on Bontrager Aeolus Pro 3V wheels. The combined weight is 123 grams. Lightweight thru-axle without levers such as Extralite are less than half the weight. Is it safe using these uber lightweight axles on a gravel bike?

I will say yes. But the lighter you are, the safer it will be. No one will be able to say your true risks.

I did cheap mt zoom for my cross country bike. Gravel bike has regular axles, but i would do mnt zoom again, or blacklock, or extralight. I am light and i am not doing jumps, so i am ok with anything light. Might avoid ebay unbranded stuff.

I’ve been using J&L on my MTBs for years now.

Not the lightest but Roberts axle project are super high quality. Also can't go wrong with DT Swiss.

I'd anyone familiar with any J&l axles that Re compatible with the Mavic Speed Release threads? Looking for axles for the new SuperSix/CAAD13.

Rockshox Maxle Stealth on my Turner Czar mountain bike, Carbon Ti X-Lock on my Felt F3X CX/gravel bike. No issues:
- Maxle Stealth front = 38g
- Maxle Stealth rear = 44g
- Carbon Ti front = 32g
- Carbon Ti rear = 29g

My Open U.P.P.E.R. came supplied with Carbon-Ti thru axles, and I've had zero problems with them in the year and a bit that I've had the bike. A bit less than 60g for the pair.

The Robert Axle Project are so nicely machined, I'm sure there are some a few grams lighter but they are not as nicely constructed.

My Specialized axles are 66g stock, works fine both on my roadbike and gravelbike. Works perfectly, light and good looking like Carbon-Ti made for hex key.
