Short reach aero handlebar recommendations
Moderator: robbosmans
Basically, before I buy my new bike, I'm altering the position of my current bike.
The current set up is 120mm stem 85mm reach Syncros all-in-one. So the reach is long and my fit dictates I should bring it back.
Obviously at this point I've not yet tested the fit, so I've already bought a cheap 75mm reach Deda bar, I'm just trying to source a Canyon stem in a 90 and 100 (I have 110) to go on the Ultimate.
So all in I would be looking to save 30-40mm reach to the hoods.
Making a list of bars as I go. The top two are what I'm using now.
Ritchey (rose) 83cm
Synchros (Canyon) 80
Specialized shallow drop - 75mm
Specialized aerofly - 80mm
Zipp SL70 269.99 70mm reach
Pro PLT - £40
Canyon Ergocockpit H31 - 70mm reach

What about enve ses aero road?
https://www.enve.com/en/products/ses-aero-road-bar-v2/
They are narrower up on the hoods bringing the effective reach closer to you and wider in the shallow drops for leaverage.
I have them on my Cervelo S3 and can highly recommend them.

Nice as they are, I fear these are the ones not compatible with the di2 bar end junction box...Gary71 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 03, 2019 10:04 pmWhat about enve ses aero road?

I stand corrected! Still, £400 for a bar alone is a bit too rich for my blood.Nefarious86 wrote:

Full disclosure - I designed the bar...
PD was going to do one with a sharp tailed airfoil but I killed that ideal in favour of a kamm shape as it's more comfortable and meant that the wing didn't stick out behind the clamp area (because knees against bars are not great).
I did exactly that, bit more flexy than the Zipp SL70 Aero, but only noticeable when sprinting out of the saddle, overall I still prefer the mana integrated bar, to the Zipp SL70.ProN3wbie wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2019 6:07 amI currently run Zipp SL70 on two bikes. I love them to the point where I'm not sure I can ride anything else that isn't 70mm reach.
One day I'll get these bars from Chapter 2 for a dream build. https://us.chapter2bikes.com/mana-handlebar.html/

Don’t want to derail this thread too much but I’m considering the same switch and I’d be grateful for some of your feedback. I’m trying to decide if I want to go intergrated or not...You mind if I ask how much you weigh and how wide your bars are? Also what bike do you have them on and is the bottom of the bars parallel to the floor? They look really nice I think but flexis something that puts me off intergrated bars a little.moonoi wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2019 5:18 amI did exactly that, bit more flexy than the Zipp SL70 Aero, but only noticeable when sprinting out of the saddle, overall I still prefer the mana integrated bar, to the Zipp SL70.ProN3wbie wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2019 6:07 amI currently run Zipp SL70 on two bikes. 95Kg and its on a C2 Tere, I went with the 42/110 bars which are 40cm on the top and 42 in the drops. They are parallel to the floor.TurboTommy wrote:

Only time I feel any flex is sprinting in the drops, but it really isn't much at all and doesn't affect your feeling of control. In fact if the Zipp SL70 Aero wasn't so solid, I'd probably not have noticed it.
I also have a pro vibe aero on my Colnago Concept, and those are super flexy....but not suitable for this topic since they are quite long reach bars and I wouldn't recommend them anyway.

Thanks that’s very useful. I’m thinking about putting them on a c64 and the headtube angle to your c1 Tere looks very close. Interesting that you have the concept, because I was wondering if I could make it work with the spacers that come with the bars and the propriety headset spacer that comes with the concept.moonoi wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2019 5:32 pm95Kg and its on a C2 Tere, I went with the 42/110 bars which are 40cm on the top and 42 in the drops.
