Just about to order some more Conti inner tubes when I noticed they weigh over 130 grams. I was wondering if, apart from being more expensive, lighter inner tubes punture much more easily? I was thinking of trying Bontrager Race X Lite which weigh 65 grams. It amuses me that the packaging lookings like a pharmacutical product. Once something has penetrated the tyre does it matter how thick the inner tube is?

I usually use light butyl tubes that are about 85g. I have experienced no ill effects. Then again, if I didnt put in the tubes myself, I wouldn't know what was in there :-) You wont notice, except they pack smaller in the seat bag.

Standard Michelin Airstop tubes work really well for me. 93+ grams:

I tried 60 gram tubes and got too many flats. I'd rather use latex tubes over super light butyl tubes.

The other thing I like about Michelin is the valve stems without threads. They are much friendlier to my Silca pump gasket.

No problems with continental supersonics, no more flats than normal.

I’ve found the Supersonics to be a hit and miss on quality. Some tubes last a long time. Others will flat with no apparent reason. I’ve since switched to Maxxis ultralight 66g tubes. I wonder is they are exactly the same tubes as the Bontrager 65g tubes.

How long have you used them for? My experience is about four years and 20 tubes.

My favorite so far is Continental Race 28 Light. Around 70g and not as fragile as the supersonics. With that said, I'm just about to test the supersonics a little bit to see how well they work for me.

I seem to recall the Conti Race Lights I’ve used are around 77-78g.

I like light tubes for their reduction in RR. The weight saving is a nice bonus and not the primary motive. I won’t use latex on clinchers.

Just ordered some Tubolito S-Tubo at around 25g each. Got good reviews (possibly that was for the heavier 38g ones...

Will see how they hold up.

Some people have reported a bad design on the valve stem (plastic?) which causes leaks.

Where it joins the tube or where the valve core inserts?

Good to look out for and some additional PFTE tape might help?
