In this thread, is the ss headset issue related to a creaking when standing up and putting down the power in the handlebars/stem, or is it related to a loose steerer tube feeling?

I believe to both of these things. I've replaced the headset altogether with cone piece on the fork. Looks like compression ring (alu piece) is not compressing enough. I had to put a small shim between the compression ring and headset cap (black aluminum with Supersix lettering).
Wobbly feeling on front brake is gone, but I can still hear creaks from the headset (I believe it has something to do with ovality)
New headset has a small plastic ring that seats between lower bearing and fork piece
This is how it looks now with a small shim under headset cap

Think I found the answer. The Cannondale compression bolt is quite clever and I didn't realise. You tighten it using a 4mm alan key to set the expansion bolt then use a 5mm to tighten the top section to 4 Nm. Should compress it nicely!
