I have no pain spinning up hills or flats. Can't stand, walk or take a full stride without pain for the last 22 years. Cycling and Table Tennis caused this, but I can't stop because they keep my weight in-check.

Not very specific? And two very different activities.

What hurts exactly and have you seen a medical professional?

How did you hurt yourself in this way by cycling and/or playing table tennis?

Is it the back or knees? I found that dropping a few pounds helps the knees a lot. I don't have issues yet though.

Do you have a daily stretch/exercise routine? Maybe it'd help to get going every day.

1)Incorrect cleat position for years(had Fit Kit done).
2)Tried to be a "Manly Man" by pushing a 54/42, 12-2(7 and 8 speed)drivetrain for years in the Biggie Smalls configuration as the say on the GCN.
3)Feet not in-line with knees while in "ready position").

Multiple tears in each Meniscus cause alignment issues and stinging sensations. If it's the Osteo or Rheumatoid Arthritis(have both), it's all aches.

Food that's good for you is bad for arthritis and vice-versa. Flexibility is not a problem as I can touch the floor in my cycling shoes with legs straight.

Short cranks and a smile will help unload the joints.

Maybe balance the food so you get both rather than none.

Does the stinging occur when riding?

Do you have a seat that you could sit all day on? That'd be nice.

Maybe mix cycling and motorcycling?

Are you self treating your knee/ ankle issues? Or seeing professionals? I'm hazarding a guess you are just self treating with you comment of just manning up and grinding away.

Meniscus issues can be resolved with supported by good physio treatment and a good rehab plan to build up muscles.. Seems like there are weaknesses in the legs auxiliary muscles in the support of known issues.

Cycling isolates muscles in a repeating pattern and is terrible for rehabbing complex issues.. You need to get some professional advice on treatment and rehab if you have issues walking.

Not sure if online forums will be helpful in these type of cases.

No sting when riding. First/last time on a motorcycle, through Bush then into brick wall. Saddle no issue.

I had knee pain because of cycling (over developed quads). I also had sciatica and the over developed quads contributed to the back pain. My neck pain (while riding) went away after I started doing some upper body/upper back exercises. Cycling as one's primary means of exercise can definitely lead to muscle imbalances. These issues can be further magnified if you sit all day at a computer like most people and then sit in front of the couch all evening.

The older I get the more I realize the benefit of doing total body workouts, weight lifting, and stretching.

As others have said, get the professional help. Taking a break from cycling for 3-6 months and working on weights and total body fitness might not be the worst thing in the world for you. Again, I'd find a good trainer that could assess you and help develop a plan.

Interesting. The only time i've had issues was playing on taraflex with too-grippy shoes.

Have you tried Time pedals? Especially if you ride a lot that may help you because of their "float" which is much better than the Shimanio floating cleats.

Nope as they were always heavier.

69"(5'9"). Just recovering from a stinging Meniscus and groin pull.
