My old coach is a former National and World Parra tandem pilot, wears one set on each side. Can still back up the stripes pretty handily and supertuck ;)

It's all about time and place, plenty of crashes I've seen had nothing to do with body position and everything to do with the idiot at the helm not paying attention. Image

Overreaching IMO. Zakarin descending in the saddle is way more terrifying than Nibali in a supertuck.

Safe for the pros, but maybe its more about being a good role model. Setting a good example for all those wanna-be Froomeys, who can't ride in a straight line but super tuck down the other side of a railroad bridge.
