A bit far fetched but could they ditched tubeless to save a few grams just so they can get the sl7 lighter than the sl6
Would be the wrong place to save weight imo.

They might just want to differentiate themselves in the competitive wheel market though by offering a ligher yet aero alternative.

The only way they get it below 6.8kg, so lighter than the SL6 Disc, is by using the Alpinist. The Rapide could have still been tubeless ready.

Wait, are you being serious? Do you seriously think Specialised is not able to hit a target weight if that was a priority for them? Dp you really think that a small company has some voodoo magic that trumps a large company like specialised if they decided to mke a concerted effort?

The priority in developing the Tarmac was aero this time, but with the Venge still being put, it had to be signifacantly lighter also. And in people's head, "light" is equivalent to 6.8kg.
I don't know a small companies' bike with full integration that is this light, but I didn't event mention them, so what is this exactly about?

I'm pretty much scratching those off the list but I'm curious as to if it's an issue with 4iiii.

I ask because I was thinking about getting a power meter from them, but if I'm going to have issues regardless of crank/chain ring setup, then that's a real bummer.

It's an issue of 4iiii, stages and even Shimano. All of them cannot deal with the new crank design of 9000/8000, their right side power meters read lower. Shane Miller has talked about that.

Exactly. Though If you don't have a major bias to one side or the other and you're not a WT rider, a single side crank PM will likely be more than accurate enough for your training.

Looks to me more like the SL7 with what's guessed to be the new di2 port. But as you said, hard to tell with the shades. However the integrated cables are a good indicator on which bike it should be.

Also looks like there actually went more consideration into huge tire clearance then aero given the huge gap between the seatpost and the wheel.

Bikes can be great looking and derivative at the same time. That goes for any era of road bikes, sports/race cars, architecture, etc.

Not everybody can notice or perhaps care for the subtle differences in proportions, little differences in angles etc between frames. A millimetre here a 1 degree different slope there is all it takes to make a different and identifiable silhouette to me. Tarmacs have always been gorgeous to my eyes. More so than others.
