Hi,

a weightweenie topic:) Looking for a lightweight thru axle for my Bianchi Oltre Disc. Stock axles are 43 and 54g.
Measurements are 120x12 and 165x12 with 1.5 thread pitch. Unfortunately I was not able to find appropriate rear J&L thru axle on ebay, just 161mm or 172mm for my 1.5 thread pitch. I guess it would not work:(
Another option is Extralite, they do 163mm, but for 80 euros each axle. J&L is nearly same weight but for 15 GBP.
May I buy 172mm and slightly cut it?

Thank you.

I don't know why but they seem to be a bit heavier than J&L and Extralite..they all use same material but lighter axles lower its diameter in the central part. I don't know whether it harms stiffness.

Shift Up has lots of options around 121mm and 167mm.

Its amazing that there's no standard lengths...since i tried to find one that was 123mm. You really have to look around or add a washer to make up 1mm or else it sticks out.

Thanks. What is Shimano E-thru axle? What's the compatibility difference if the axle is right size and thread pitch is 1.5 on both? I can see E-thru can have some end cap but not all e-thru axles have it..
