I recently acquired a TCR Advanced SL at an unbeatable price. Unfortunately, it is a mechanical build, so I’m going to ride it with the mechanical groupset for now and do the Di2 conversion over the winter.

My question is about the routing of cables (front derailleur, brake) into the port on the head tube. As I received the bike, the housing was inserted directly into the port. Normally I’d cap the housing with ferrules and insert the ferrule into the port.

The front derailleur housing was rather sloppily inserted during the factory install, resulting in it being half out of the port and split down the middle, so I’m going to re-cable and clean up some of the excessively long housing. Is there a reason not to use the ferrules? Is this a Giant thing that I couldn’t find in any documentation? I think the ferrules make a cleaner shifting/better braking system.
