Question, this is the 3rd time i have a Sram Red Crank failing at the pedal insert in the carbon crank arm. Before (2years ago) i got a replacement under warranty.
Anybody tried it recently to reach out to Sram with this problem?
I can't even find an email adress for tech suport... :?

Are there, reasonbly light, alternatives (alu?) For 50/34 10sp BB30 cranks?

That's odd. How big a guy are you? Doing a lot of sprinting? Are those exogram cranks?

Maybe a cannondale crank would satisfy your stiffness and full alloy requirement without adding a lot of weight.

If weight isn't an issue look at Fsa energy cranks or maybe sram rival. They are alloy.

Cannondale have cheaper bb30 cranks too.

I'm 63kg... its always the pedal inserts in the crank carbon arm that come loose...
They are plenty stiff enough for me, but always fail after 1 or to seasons... 😔

Cdale alu crank arent cheap.... but im gonna look for one 2nd hand...

It sounds remarkable to have it happen three times.

Maybe there is something in your environment breaking down whatever bonding agent they use to hold those inserts in place.

If I were the manufacturer I'd like to investigate the matter to improve the product.

Sram made a running change in the design to mitigate the problem. I used to own the earlier, non-reinforced version but never had any problems. The earlier version is some 20-30 grams lighter than the revised version. I wonder which version you have.
