i would like to try to go disc with wireless gs on my next build.
with around a budget of 6k usd, the Canyons below seem to be good value

question is which one should i go for?
or does anyone have another build in mind?

tia

Ultimate CF SLX Disc 9.0 SL - 6349usd - axs + dt1400 dicut - 7.0kg
Aeroad CF SLX Disc 9.0 SL - 5649 - etap11s + arc1100 - 7.1kg
Ultimate CF SLX Disc 9.0 SL - 4869 - etap11s + cosmic - 7.4kg

i thought about building my own but it seems the total cost come close to how much the built ones are

it would've been better if they offer the Force gs in an SL frame so i can squeeze in a powermeter as well :)

Item 2, but I would wait 3 weeks for the start of the TdF to see if they update the Aeroad this year. That said, the choice between Ultimate and Aeroad is not an easy one - there is a thread from ages back on this subject, if you search for it.

thank you. i think i will add another option which is still an Ultimate.

- buy the built one with 105gs,
- sell the 105 and replace it with a Force etap axs with a power meter
- sell the wheels then get a deep wheelset with the extra cash

would this be a good thing as well?

Does the one with 105 come with the integrated bar?

105 won't come with the aero bar. And that will be a mechanical frameset. So when you install the etap on it, there will be holes for shifter cables. No big deal I suppose. Also, this would be an SL, raher than SLX frameset, which is something that you may or may not regret later on.

You could just buy a frameset and build it up too. SLX disc electric; bora one or Roval CL wheels, whatever saddle you like and ultegra di2 or force etap can probably all be done under 6k. Have not done the math in great detail though.

An advice I saw once on this forum (and can't say I followed it myself, but wish I had): buy the best frameset wth the best wheels and whatever mechanical groupset you can afford. I think that's incredibly valid. There are disadvantages to mechanical groupsets when it comes to discs (vis: more bulbous shifters), but performance ain't one of them.

be sure about the fit. I spoke with a Canyon rep a few months ago and a lot of people return the aeroad because the fit is long and low and not many people are prepared for this.
But I could be wrong

thanks for the inputs.
i already had a bikefit and the fitter said a size xs will be good for me.

Ultimate CF SL Disc 7.0 for 2k usd has Canyon H36 Aerocockpit CF
and the Ultimate CF SL Disc Frameset Electric has the CP10 for 1.8kusd
im now thinking of pairing this with Force groupset (~2.2kusd) and Hunt tubeless 50 wheels (1.1kusd)

still have extra for the new powermeter spider as well then adjust a few comps to hit 7kg (total 5kusd)
or go max budget for a Red gs to shave off ~300gr to go sub7?

Bear in mind that further down the line you can always install the Di2 or eTap upgrade kit to a mechanical group. Di2 being considerably cheaper.

I wouldn’t go with any of the 11 speed etap. 12 speed AXS or Dura Ace/campy.

I would go with number 1.

Don't know what type of riding you prefer, but fwiw, that Aeroad climbs every bit as well as the Ultimate
If I had to start over...
Aeroad SLX axs, or whatever Shimano has for their next 12spd iteration

get the Aeroad but check the top tube length as you might need to get one size smaller than what you normally ride

If I had to spend that money today I’d get the Ultimate SLX with Force AXS. I might have bought it already if it weren’t so boring color-wise.

Otherwise I’d wait some weeks to see if anything newer is on the way.

Size XS means you can get a really good bike for a good discount, let me find something good. Also, are you sure you want AXS only? Is DA/Ultegra Di2 fine?

thanks for the input.
im only looking at the red or force axs for now.
however, Canyon's outlet have the etap11s which seems to be a good deal as well.

Ok, how about this:

Giant Propel Advanced 1 Disc: $4200 https://www.giant-bicycles.com/us/prope ... ced-1-disc

Sram Etap: $1700 https://www.jensonusa.com/SRAM-Red-Etap-HRD-Groupset

So total is 5900, with aero wheels. I'll keep sending you hypothetical builds, just tell me if you need an aero setup or a climbing one. Or maybe an all-rounder?
