Extralite CH-01 Computer Mount

Got the mentioned mount. Wasn't expecting much. Initially I thought it looked kinda unpolished/industrial? When I first twisted the Garmin 510 on I was greeted with a loud and satisfying *Snap* as it locked firmly into place. It was so nice I had to do it a few more times. Before I used the Raceware mount and that one doesn't lock the computer into an exact position which was okay because the mount doesn't line up perfectly straight. The CH-01 is perfectly aligned. The looks also grew on me also and I like it a lot. After subtracting the weight of the clamps it comes to about 13 grams which is 1 gram lighter than the Raceware.

Nice write-up.

Think Extralite's deisgn could readily be made into a double-sided version? So I can mount a Fabric Lumaray light underneath and a Garmin on top?

I already thought of that and asked Extralite. They kept silent about the light mount idea, but shared safe weight limit you can load it with - about 250g. CH-01 base has four holes in it, so it should be possible to bolt custom fixtures on both sides.

Also asked this when the mount was first announced... And they did reply that they were considering it.

I would most definitely get a hyperstem and a mount if it can take a light /camera underneath.

It doesnt look like an easy solution to mount a GoPro style mount at the bottom for a light. I'll attach a photo of the bottom. My Barfly mount had preexisting threaded holes at the bottom that worked perfectly for a K-Edge GoPro mount. I suppose you could custom drill holes into the GoPro mount and use those two horizontal holes in the "bridge" at the front of the Extralite mount.

It does look nice and clean with a bottom GoPro mount for a light, but in all honesty I would rather just attach a light onto the handlebar with the supplied rubber straps since most of the time I'm not using a light.

Have Extralite out front mount and it is rock solid side to side but slight flex front to front. On looking when locked in there is small gap 1/16 inch between computer (520 ) and mount . Just enough to cause a vibration and annoying buzz on rough roads. Any one else experience same problem ?

put a piece of cut plastic bag between your device and the mount and rotate your device, it should work

Be careful, I did something similar to my raceware mount. Additional pressure broke off the tabs of my edge 510 years ago.

Mine mount started to rattle this morning. Then halfway through the ride, it completely came off. Not that much material for it to bond to. Using an edge 1030.

Extralite said they would cover it under warranty but I'm not messing around with international shipping. Just the adhesive failed, there was hardly any holding it all toether. There is a small groove on either side of the detached piece. They fit together like a lego so it was easy to line them back up. I just used some JB Weld Kwik Weld to glue it all back together, used just enough pressure with the clamp to hold it all together while curing. It's rock-solid now after a couple of hours of drying time.
