yes we need StanDarDizeD D-shape seatpost.
Can they all agree on optimal D-shape and make it cross compatible?
Atleast Specialized Tarmac (medium-stiff D) and Roubaix (noodley D) are cross compatible, but that's to be expected cross compatibility inside the same brand.

Not going to happen. Because of our legs and the venturi effect, air flows faster over the seatpost than other tubes. Seatposts will likely continue to grow in profile with suspension/compliance implemented some other way (at the saddle / rails / clamp.)
It looks nice. Simple and well balanced design.

Why does most new bikes look the same i ask? It's quite boring. Soon it's only down to geometry.
Bikes:
Ax Lightness Vial EVO Race (2018.12.21)
viewtopic.php?f=10&t=156137
Paduano Racing Fidia (kind of shelved)
Open *UP* (2016.04.14)
Ex bike; Vial EVO D

Haven't been a fan of Scott in the past, but I'm liking this one.
