welcone to the party, scott.

Does this mean a Foil update is likely to come soon too?

The rim-brake Foil is indeed pretty old, circa 2016. I expect the new one will arrive in the winter (early next year.)

Now Scott joins the D-shaped seatpost club along with Cannondale, I wonder if the days we can buy aftermarket seatposts is about to end, or any standard is coming?

I was thinking the same thing. I just hope to god I never break the seatpost on my BMC.

yes we need StanDarDizeD D-shape seatpost.
Can they all agree on optimal D-shape and make it cross compatible?
Atleast Specialized Tarmac (medium-stiff D) and Roubaix (noodley D) are cross compatible, but that's to be expected cross compatibility inside the same brand.

The foil has already the D seatpost since the previous generation so it is logic they made the step.

Not going to happen. Because of our legs and the venturi effect, air flows faster over the seatpost than other tubes. Seatposts will likely continue to grow in profile with suspension/compliance implemented some other way (at the saddle / rails / clamp.)

I like the internal cable routing up front. The new Addict is truly a beauty.

Going to be burly as the Scott stems are oversized..... I suspect the next foil will use that new stem / internal cable routing setup....

Why does most new bikes look the same i ask? It's quite boring. Soon it's only down to geometry.
Bikes:

Ax Lightness Vial EVO Race (2019.01.03)
Open *UP* (2016.04.14)
Paduano Racing Fidia (kind of shelved)

Ex bike; Vial EVO D, Vial EVO Ultra, Scott Foil, Paduano ti bike.

The answer you seek is in the Supersix thread! :D

Haven't been a fan of Scott in the past, but I'm liking this one.
