Colnago C60 paint repair
Moderator: robbosmans
Bike was bought new in March 2018, found this on two of the 'ports', paint is coming off.
If they do warranty this in Hong Kong, how do they fix it?
I assume they would dismantle that section of the frame...pulling the lugs out, repaint or replace.....correct? Are distributers trained to do that?

You can't undo the lugs just simply like that... They'd repaint it if anything. But it'll take a long time and its still going to suck because its Colnago.
That’s awful. Is that original paint from thee factory? It’s a paint repair for sure, they’re not going to be taking tubes out of lugs etc. I don’t know what they would do for that, so please report back with how they intend to resolve it.

Facts. Colnago took 6 months to fix a section on the C60 that I had. The repair was done poorly and had a visible run in the paint. Also, they didn't address any other areas that showed signs of having the same issue so I did myself a favor and took a loss and got rid of it!dudemanppl wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2019 4:39 amYou can't undo the lugs just simply like that... yea, original paintwork, bought new from the official distributor.
Will keep you updated, I did email Colnago, same person whom I was talking to when I had registration problem, she basically said, contact dealer asap.

Warrenty will be a nightmare. I recently bought a prestige cyclocross frame which was massively out of spec with the rear wheel sitting about 5mm to one side.
Sent it back for warrenty 3 months ago and am still waiting for replacement frame to arrive.
I'd consider either living with the issue or sorting your own repair. If you send it back to Colnago you'll be in for a long long wait.
Id never buy a Colnago again sin, appaling service.

I had a paint issue with my Colnago Concept, the local distributor was told by Colnago to find a local shop to repair and they would pay. Came back perfect, this was in Thailand, took a month and I'm very happy with both the service and the quality of repair.

I would not expect a painted in Italy Colnago like the C60 to have such issues. It seems really strange to me.

Yeah, it’s paint, so I’d rather take my chances with a good local paint specialist than be sending it back. But for sure Colnago had better be paying for it, and I can’t see why they wouldn’t if you send them the pictures you just posted. If not, then on principle I wouldn’t be accepting the frame and want my money back, in full.
Tell me, when you took it out of the box, was there a brake liner run through the top tube taped at both ends. Because if there was, and there has been on the ones I’ve seen, then how could they have not have noticed that when fishing out the liner from that port. They couldn’t not have noticed it in my opinion so to send it out like that... hmmmm.

Are those ports plastic? Looks like the paint has reacted with the plastic. Haven’t seen that colour green before. You will wait a very long time, I did. And chances are it will be a mess when it comes back, mine was. They are very small old fashioned company and they just don’t have the infrastructure to cope with these problems unlike companies like Specialized.

I would just go to a bike repair/ paint shop to get the work repaired and send the bill to Colnago. For such a small area sending the frame back as started will take months and then you might still not be happy with the outcome.
