Another vote for the Tickr. Ran my last one for ~4years before it died and just bought another one. The Garmin strap that came with my 500 would give insane numbers. (280bpms!!) It was like some static electricity build up that was impossible to get ride of. Never once had the issue with the Tickr.

I tested the following brands from AliExpress:

XOSS, BT only, a year old https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/bxbBK7K0
My preferred since, quite flat, and nice design/color
The strap had an issue, they sent me another one.

Coospo H6, BT and Ant+, 4 years old
https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/b9NcmGCY

Kyto, BT and Ant+, 6 months old
https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/bu3oszuG

Why so many HRM? I kept loosing regularly the Coospo in the house and found 3 the magic number to find at least one quickly when I go to ride...
I use them with a Wahoo Bolt or iPhone.
When something went wrong, it was always time to change the battery.

For measuring HRV none of them work.
But an old $9 brand Sunding works perfect.
Unfortunately what looks to be their new model, doesn’t provide RR intervals anymore.

And I haven’t find a backup for this one.

My Garmin seems to be about 6-7 years old and still works perfectly. I've only changed the battery one time. I have the cheaper model that has more plastic.

These types of straps last much longer than the ones that the transmitter snaps to. The stretch band does wear out though.

Wahoo tickr is great - very happy with it. Main reason is really that an arm band is way more comfortable than a chest strap and a lot lighter as well.

I've had the Wahoo Tickr for 3 or 4 years, and use it 5-6x/week (between Zwift and road). I've had to change the batteries twice (I think), but it's dead reliable - never any drop outs, never any signal issues. I do have two straps, and put one in the wash, while wearing the other.

Last year, my wife's Garmin strap died, and I replaced it with a Tickr. Her Garmin lasted about 4 years, I think. It worked well, but it was harder to change the batteries (used 4 small screws, rather than a quarter-turn style, liek the Tickr).

The polar HR strap is compatible with the garmin snap-on HR unit and can be found cheaply on eBay.

Wahoo tickr or garmin soft strap. The tickr is $50 and is the least expensive with Bluetooth. I bought it to use with zwift (I only zwift with the iPhone app). That’s why I would go with the tickr.

Optical like the TICKR FIT or Rhythm 24.

For heavy sweaters, the chest straps can start smelling funky after one ride. Arm bands I can wear for a week before hand washing them. They’re also more comfortable and accurate enough. The chest straps can stop working with dry contact while the opticals lose accuracy on really bumpy surfaces. Bad roads are probably fine, cobbles maybe not.

Can you wear the optical ones far up on the arm (below the jersey) without loosing accuracy?

This thread made me looking for some possible solution.. I have two straps at a moment, one Garmin (from the Edge 520 Bundle) and another one Sigma ...

Seem that Garmin slowly is dying...

So i realized that there is universal strap really really cheap and will order to test it.. If this work properly, then i'l buy dosen of this and replace every 6 months..
