Is there any specific requirement for a frame to be compatible with Sram etap wireless groupset? This article https://fitwerx.com/sram-etap-possibly- ... der-frame/ seems to suggest any frame can work?

No specific requirements regarding the levers nor the derailleurs. Installation is as close to "plug'n'play" as you can get.

Thanks for the confirmation. I wonder what justifies etap-only frames then, just cleaner aesthetics?

They should be lighter and cleaner looking.

You will get di2 holes everywhere though which you'll have zero need for with etap so it's not ideal.
