Using Specialized Venge Front End on Madone SLR
Moderator: robbosmans
So the Madone SLR Rim in it's smallest config still has too much reach for me. This is due to it's long reach bars (93mm) and a shortest stem length of 90mm. I don't want to go with a non-integrated front end as that defeats half the point of the bike. However the specialized Venge (non-VIAS) front end still allows for cable routing through the stem and looks like it may work with the Madone cable routing without using the stem adapter.
Does anyone have any thoughts/opinions?

The Madone uses specific integrated stem specific headset cover that interlocks with the stem or spacers, so I'm not seeing how you could cleanly integrate the Venge cockpit without using the adapter headset cover for normal stems.

I was thinking of grinding off the interlocking portion of the top spacer, and then using the venge fairing to cover everything. I understand that the Venge fairing won't be a perfect fit, but it should still be cleaner than user the adapter headset
The Madone is already complicated enough (pain in the ass) with the OEM cockpit. I can't even imagine a mechanic who would like to tackle that job.
Bianchi Oltre XR4, De Rosa SK Pininfarina, Trek Madone SLR, Giant TCR Advanced SL, Cervelo R5 Disk, Giant Revolt
It would be me doing this haha. However after giving it some more though. If it was even slightly not clean, it would drive me crazy. So I am going to wait and see what Felt comes out with this year. If it's not good, I'll go with the new Cervelo S5 disc. Though I hate disc...
