Speed Wax, soooo much easier on maintenance

I used MSW, but switched to plain paraffin. The MoS2 and PTFE save you on the order of <.1W. The MoS2 also makes the wax flakes very dark and noticeable on a white bike like mine.

Are you using the candle grade paraffin, food grade etc, or does it matter?

I’ve been using MSW, but want to try regular paraffin.

Food grade / Gulf wax bars. Stuff sold as candle wax is often impure.

Wonder how doing MSW 1 to 1 with Plain Paraffin would go. Less dark mess more chains per batch.

I had the chain from my Giant TCR waxed by a local mechanic (molten speed wax) the chain had only done 100miles or so, I decided to rewax it myself using plain paraffin wax. After the first treatment, the chain was pretty noisy, after my rewaxing it is a lot quieter. I couldn't see many air bubbles come from the chain so I think the MSW penetrated OK. Thoughts ?

Shaking stuff about in a tub/jar of white spirits cleans fast and effectively. Solvent will evaporate by it self eliminating prolonged or elaborate drying. It does stink some tho.
