It's a round bearing in a Super Six Evo. Headset soon loses compression after a few kilometers riding. Stem bolts are pretty tight.

First try carbon paste and torquing the bolts using a torque wrench. If that doesnt work then...

Either raise the compression plug by using a spacer over the stem, or swap it out with one that is longer (safe), or swap with a shorter one that sits higher (weightweenie) inside the stem clamp area.

I understand the headset loosens either by the compression plug being too deep or there being a lack of stem bolt torque/carbon paste.

Many thanks again, I replaced the top bearing and ring, and put a new spacer under the stem. It seems fixed for now. Haven’t used the carbon paste yet. I think the bearing and/or spacer got slightly damaged when I hit something on a descent. Since then it has been working itself loose.
