Stiffest ~700gr frame that isn't priced top third
Moderator: robbosmans
Hi ww
Fuji sl 1.1
Cannondale supersix himod (2015 or newer, havent decided)
What else is ~700gr w/o fork or ~1000gr with fork and provides good stiffness?
I don't like the emonda that much because of certain aspects like the seatmast design and inability to run 30mm cranks.
The fuji and supersix get points for being bb30 crank compatible (i have several light bb30 cranks and pwm I wouldn't mind using).
Thanks for reading and commenting...

My Fuji size 54 is 770g. Very stiff, a bit too much for me with the integrated saddle/post. Agree with the BB30 weight savings
the 2017 model i built up last fall continues to amaze
set a new PR over a rolling 16.7 mile route
everything about it wants to go forward
climbs hills without me
777g with cage bolts, hanger and collar

It's only true for first generation Evos, they used lighter Nano carbon and minimal paint/clearcoat, when they introduced the current generation Evo for MY2016, they stopped using the Nano carbon for the Black Inc, the 2016 are the same frames as all Evo Hi-Mods.
Having owned the older super light Black Inc and now a newer Hi-Mod, and given the thread title includes the word 'stiffest', I would pick the new one even with a slight weight penalty. I had two complaints about the old ones, rear tire clearance and the stiffness around the BB was not bad but it wasn't great either. Both aspects were significantly improved and it's a wonderful frameset! Prices might go down soon too for the current one as the 3rd generation Evo will be launched this summer.
I agree on this one. My frame and fork were 1003g painted in size 52 and I picked the whole bike up used for 1k CHF.
Maybe you're lucky and find a new frameset, which will be cheap as well.
Good idea! I like the pf30 and the geometry. I like the slacker head tube angle and seat tube angle at smaller frame sizes.
Does anyone know if the izalco max uses 27.2mm seatposts or something else?
If I ever were to strip the paint it would be a quite light frame.
How common are warranty claims for the izalco max? I'll be buying 2nd hand and I'm assessing the risk.

Yes it uses 27.2mm. I have many friends with an Izalco Max an no one has ever had a problem with the frame or fork.alcatraz wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2019 7:10 amGood idea! I like the pf30 and the geometry. I like the slacker head tube angle and seat tube angle at smaller frame sizes.

Another vote for the Izalco Max. I've had mine since August and enjoy riding it a lot. Aesthetically it's not the best looking thing I've put together but that's more to do with my affinity for aero frames vs more traditional round tube types.
