do RD cage springs wear out?

i have a 10-Centaur medium cage, and in the small chain ring, and the smaller sprockets, it doesn't seem to keep the chain as tight as it could.

Hi,

I'd hazard a guess that more than the spring wearing out, it could be joint friction increasing over age, due to dust ingress and wear on the pivot points.

I also imagine the springs to be designed to operate well within their elastic limits, meaning that yes, some degradation might occur due to material fatigue, when it comes to springs I think the joints and their contamination would play a far bigger role.
