Stem height?
Moderator: robbosmans
Looking at the stems on my different bikes I just noticed that they have different heights.....(Pro Vibe, Deda Superleggero, Deda Zero100,...)
Is there however a “standard” height for stems?

Not sure if there is a "standard" height, but I love the look of low stack height stems. Particularly the Basso stems.
Never cheer before you know who is winning
a standard in the bike industry? What madness is this!!!!
No. As above, anything from mid 20s to mid 40s. Probably enough to actually be an issue for fit. Two nominally identical stems could have the bars 10mm difference in height.

I think the unspoken standard is 40mm.

Odd, just been downstairs to check (kids are in bed finally!) and of the 11 stems i have within easy reach, 7 different manufacturers (i'd guess 3 or 4 are rebranded kalloys, but different models), and no two of the same model, 9 of them are between 38 and 39 one is 44 and one is 34. (44 is a fairly hefty and cheap stem on a trail bike, 34 is a fairly crap one that i've never trusted, so it's in a box full of bars) so my "guess" of 1 1/2" doesn't seem to be far off, at least for the random selection of stems i have.
