Ultegra chainrings....

Hi,

Is it possible to use the Ultegra R8000 chainrings on a FC-R9100 Dura Ace crankset?

Is it possible to use a 34/46 combo for the R8000 instead of the 36/46 recommended combo?

I believe they are compatible (although I haven't tried personally).

36/46 34/50 36/52 39/59 are all standard combinations. Sure a 10t difference should shift better than a 16t difference but shimano shifts so well that 16t difference works fine.

Yes, is possible.....there's only one "Paste "............the aesthetics, the forms of cranks/chainrings do not exactly match

yes, it can be done. both my wife's and my gravel bikes are using 46/34. mine is Ultegra 6800 and hers is R8000. just watch for small/small chain tension when you switch from 36 to 34.

I ride an Ultegra 6800 46/34 on my gravel bike/commuter and it's fine. I have no issues shifting, altough it sometimes feels a bit rough when just pedaling. But that being said it's a bit of a frankenbike with mostly 6800 components but a rx clutch derailleur, shimano non series shifters and a non-series 11-34 cassette. My usual rule is to only pair like with like so I'm not surprised that things aren't perfect. I do find that the loss of 4 teeth is very noticiable when I am riding on the road however and I am frequently in the 46/11.

Was thinking to try the same thing, now think probably should stick to DA chainrings. Besides the look, I do wonder if there is any weight/material difference
