I live in China and buy from another marketplace but I found the same seller on aliexpress. Now this is not the right product but I know this seller also has TSG alloy stranded housing. They cost 9cny per 0.5m brake/shift.

The Pro Lightweight kit arrived early, as did the Elite sealed.
Comparing side by side, the Pro Lightweight kit comes with almost 2x more length for the housings. The Elite sealed however also comes with two short LEX-SD cables as well.
I separated the components and weighed them. Left the twist ties on both, but approx weight for 2 twist ties is 1g total. Weight below is for uncut and I apologize in advance that it's not per the standard gr/m unit
Elite sealed - XEX housing - 39 grams
Elite sealed liner and shift cables - 38.6 grams
Pro lightweight XEX-SL - 53.3 grams (there is nearly 2x more length than the Elite sealed)
Pro shift cables - 33.9 grams

Interesting, thanks for posting the weights. Well you can easily convert it to g/m since we know the Elite Shift comes with 1.7m housing and Pro Shift comes with 3.2m. That confirms that the XEX housing at roughly 22.3g/m is heavier than the XEX-SL at roughly 16.3g/m. It's a real bummer Jagwire decided to discontinue it.

Here is my raw jagwire road elite sealed kit
This is all uncut as from box.
Odds and sods. 5.9g The outer brake housing (CSX). 171cm. 91.4g. 53.4g/m. 0.534g/cm The inner brake housing liner. 237cm. 4.5g. 1.9g/m. 0.019g/cm Brake Cables with ends. 253cm. 33.9g. 13.4g/m. 0.134g/cm As my bike is now, I will need:
- outer brake housing 94cm x 0.534g/cm = 50.2g
- inner brake linner 94cm x 0.019g/cm = 1.8g
- brake line (94cm + 56cm) x 0.134g/cm = 20.1g
So 72.1g for my brake cables. Lets round up to 75g with the odds and ends.
Etap, so zero weight for shift cables.
Upgrade time!!!
- new old stock jag lightweight pro brake cable housing (KEB-SL 0.41g/cm) : 94cm of housing would weigh 38.5g. 50.2g(CSX) - 38.5g is 11 g savings over the jag elite sealed (CSX). So this is starting to get into double digit savings... but just.
- noname alloy stranded brake housing. 0.26g/cm. 94cm x 0.26g/cm = 24.4g. 50.6g-24.4g is a 26.2g saving. I call 26g worth it, assuming performance is good. Alcatraz seemed to not have a lot of faith...

Is that the CSX housing? That is incredibly heavy. alcatraz's noname housing is 26g/m. Jagwire's Elite Links weigh 27g/m. Alligator ilinks are 25g/m. Aican Bungarus is 18g/m. So you definitely have more than a few options to drop weight, and for "free" because you probably won't experience any loss in performance.RocketRacing wrote:

That is csx. My theory of “the more expensive kit will be lighter” did not hold through. The elite kit obviously has the bulletproof csx housing... which i am sure is great for function, but not for weight.

My problem with i-link was that under the bars, you had to use regular housing anyway, so 25g saved again became 12-13g saved for me.
May have to look into i-link and similar again.
Back to jag elite being heavy. It reinforces my motto that what is not said it often what matters most. Jag did not market it as light, because it is not. It is probably marketed as “elite” because the heavy duty cables just make it superior for function.

Elite brake housing being heavier than Pro is real surprise. Ok, maybe it is really like that because of "superior function", but then even bigger surprise is that Elite shift housing is lighter than Pro.
Usually, heavier means "safer", for few reasons, and I can understand reason behind that, but one heavier and the other lighter ... I can't quite understand.
