That garmin mount is horrendous, why would they mount it above the stem like that?!

I have seen the frames up close and some of the details are either the output from lazy engineers or overly empowered bean counters. Some examples are:

1. Create a reasonably light frame and weight it down with a boat anchor cockpit
2. Knot stem's trough for cable routing is so large it can double as a vacuum hose
3. Garmin mount is one of the worst designs ever created. What was the point of hiding the cables with that thing out front?
Think this is a fair summary. I quite like the frame, geo changes work for me, but the cockpit is a definite miss.

my thoughts exactly.

I test rode the bike. Great riding bike, but fuuuuu.....that mount looks so ugly, even worse when you're riding it, it does not look 'integrated' at all

Again, my impression is that some details of the bike were not designed at US by Cannonadale but were outsourced elsewhere. I might be wrong but I cannot explain otherwise some things which, in terms of design, look so much retarder in comparison to the competition.

4. Some colorways are just atrocious

Still think the bike has some appeal (not as much as the last iteration), if the above can be addressed.
There's an easy solution to all of this: 1, 2 and 3 are linked together, so if you use another cockpit like the Vision Metron 5D or a normal bar and stem combo, then you don't have the weight issue, it still integrates really well, you don't have the vacuum hose (which I don't think is that bad, because you actually don't see it at all) and you can use another computer mount with the other cockpit.

This is preposterous. I’m sure Damon could respond to this, but probably not even worth the effort.

The big brands are the ones with proper R&D budgets and in-house human talent. It’s the smaller boutiques you love so dear that rely more on aesthetics and the “eye test” rather than back it up with data.

Bad design can come from anywhere

It seems that Cannondale didn't really run this by the 'eye test' or the 'is this sensible?' test. Perhaps they should have done..

IMO the SystemBar and KNOT stem pass the eye test (I'm not including the computer mount), they just lose quite some points on the 'scale test'.

not feeling the stem/handlebar combo and those headset spacers.

Whats the consensus on the stock 45mm KNOT wheelset vs the last gen Hollowgram SI 35mm wheelset?

Agree. Thought the stem looked pretty cool last time I rode a SystemSIX and liked the shape of the bar too.

The KNOT stem looks far more appropriate on SystemSIX than it does on the Supersix. The width of the stem on such a svelte frame seemed out of place. YMMV

That's exactly what the big brands want you to believe. In your case they succeeded.
