Are We Getting A New Cannondale Supersix?

Just noticed that Cannondale's website have finally started posting some weights, not every model has it but most:

In case anyone is instested, I found two decently priced sources for the KNOT carbon seatpost.

I belive this is the one that fits the 2020 SuperSix. I'll probably order one of these, if either company will ship it to the U.S. I don't see any reason why they would not.

Edit: I just ordered one from cannondalespares.com. If shipping outside the EU they remove VAT, so the price becomes even cheaper. My final total was around $120 USD.

First ride today, I won't use any buzzwords but she made me happy. Different character to the Gen2 Evo I'd been borrowing til now though, but smaller frame size and bars contribute I'm sure, feels twitcher climbing out the saddle, but no less capable. Like the Dimension saddle so far. Wahoo/Garmin Mount still annoys me.




As promised, some weights...

Front wheel with rotor, tyre and speed sensor: 1287


Rear wheel with rotor, tyre and cassette: 1664


Thru Axles: 70g for the pair

Frame with everything else (but missing a bottle cage of 42g and Assioma pedals are 308g): 4627


As mentioned, bottle cage of 42g and pedals at 308g to add to as well, giving a grand total of... *drum roll* : 7998g

Only 40g or so off with my spreadsheet, more by luck than anything else I think

Hoping to be down in the low 7s without much effort, but all in good time.

Regarding twichiness, Gen3 Evo size 51 has a wheelbase of 99.4cm, Gen2 Evo size 52 and 54 have a wheelbase of 97.2cm and 98cm respectively (although I have measured my 54 to be almost 99cm). In that respect, the new bike shouldn't feel any twitchier, also given the slacker head tube angle. Haven't riden it though, so I withhold judgment.

S6ED just focussing at the wrong measurements, it is actually intuitive to guess that the newer version has faster handling based on the number of trail value which, unlike many other brands that you have to calculate it yourself, Cannondale even list it in their geometry table.

This is a gold example of why trail value is more important than wheelbase or head tube angle in determining how fast reacting the bike is.
2015 Supersix Evo size 52: Trail value=60mm : (result of HTA: 72.5deg, fork offset =45mm, calculate with 25mm 700c wheelsize). The official spec list trail as 59mm rather than 60mm because they calculate with 23mm tire on this older version.
2020 Supersix Evo size 51: Trail value=58mm : (result of HTA: 71deg, fork offset=55mm, calculate with 25mm 700c wheel size).

Despite longer wheelbase and slacker head tube angle, the higher fork offset which, although make wheelbase even longer, greatly reduce trail value on SS Evo 2020. Thus, the 2020 version size 51 has faster handling than 2015 version size 52.

Quite possibly, in which case the Gen3 Evo in size 51 is as agile (or even more so) than the Gen2 size 52 plus it has longer wheelbase by 2.2cm, so also more stable at speed. A win-win scenario. As regards size 54 bikes, trail value remains the same at 58mm but wheelbase is increased by 2cm on paper (as mentioned above, mine is almost 99cm and not 98cm as is officialy listed).

The stock Thru-Axles on the Evo are already 'lever less', from the looks of it though, Alex has Robert Axle Project Speed Release axles, I think they're a few grams lighter than the stock axles.

I ask as I've been having difficulty getting the finer M12x1 thread pitch for the new CAAD13 in the UK

Not so much a weight thing for me, I just prefer the cleaner looking lines.

Apart from Cannondale's own, Mavic also makes some but the easiest to find are probably ordering straight from Robert Axle Project (front + rear), fits the CAAD13, new Evo and SystemSix.
