Why don't you become a test pilot and come back with a report?
I'd love to try the KR1, but i just like my Shimano shoes so i'd rather buy a second pair of these.
I may do. But I have kinda funny feet.

Standing up in a shoe is fine, but tells me nothing about how they behave an hour into a ride. Having learned the hard way the futility of trying to make a judgement on a shoe via anything less than a full fitment with a store that allows customisation via a stationary bike, I’ve promised myself I will only buy having subjected myself to that process, and that process alone. So far, only one store seems to have a pair in stock that meets that criteria, and it’s a two hour plane flight away. I’m happy to make that trip, but would make sure there were several sizes and other potential options in stock first.

Individual data points are great - hence my post - but they are merely indicative of a direction to pursue, not a decider of purchase.

I've been buying from a country outside EU lately. They gather several sales and pay bulk taxes (so we, customers are free from it).
They offer KR1 at a fairly good price. Due to your interest i felt curious enough to look into this model.
Honestly, this has peaked my curiousity to!

At same time i actually have a better price at the (old) S-pyre RC9 (which i currently have).

I noted that my Shimano size is claimed 29.2cm (my feets measure 283-286mm full flatt with heat/ swallow included)
Typically, sizes vary pending mostly on toe box, width and foot fit (heel slip or not).
It's not without problems. I would surely need to figure if i am 45, 45½ or a 46 on these.
I have zero possibilty to try the shoes first!
Most likely i would need to buy minimum two pairs (and hope one of these is the correct size).
(i would ofcourse return the shoes not fitting)

Finally, you are right on, talking shoe+feet doing what they're supposed to (pedal) over just standing or walking around testing shoes.

Does that outside EU shop have a name, and what is a fairly good price? So far I have seen them around 280€
