Why don't you become a test pilot and come back with a report?
I'd love to try the KR1, but i just like my Shimano shoes so i'd rather buy a second pair of these.
I may do. But I have kinda funny feet.

Standing up in a shoe is fine, but tells me nothing about how they behave an hour into a ride. Having learned the hard way the futility of trying to make a judgement on a shoe via anything less than a full fitment with a store that allows customisation via a stationary bike, I’ve promised myself I will only buy having subjected myself to that process, and that process alone. So far, only one store seems to have a pair in stock that meets that criteria, and it’s a two hour plane flight away. I’m happy to make that trip, but would make sure there were several sizes and other potential options in stock first.

Individual data points are great - hence my post - but they are merely indicative of a direction to pursue, not a decider of purchase.

Best,

I've been buying from a country outside EU lately. They gather several sales and pay bulk taxes (so we, customers are free from it).
They offer KR1 at a fairly good price. Due to your interest i felt curious enough to look into this model.
Honestly, this has peaked my curiousity to!

At same time i actually have a better price at the (old) S-pyre RC9 (which i currently have).

I noted that my Shimano size is claimed 29.2cm (my feets measure 283-286mm full flatt with heat/ swallow included)
Typically, sizes vary pending mostly on toe box, width and foot fit (heel slip or not).
It's not without problems. I would surely need to figure if i am 45, 45½ or a 46 on these.
I have zero possibilty to try the shoes first!
Most likely i would need to buy minimum two pairs (and hope one of these is the correct size).
(i would ofcourse return the shoes not fitting)

Finally, you are right on, talking shoe+feet doing what they're supposed to (pedal) over just standing or walking around testing shoes.
Bikes:

Ax Lightness Vial EVO Race (2019.01.03)
Open *UP* (2016.04.14)
Paduano Racing Fidia (kind of shelved)

Ex bike; Vial EVO D, Vial EVO Ultra, Scott Foil, Paduano ti bike.

Has anyone been using these the past months? They've been out for a year or so now and was hoping some people here might have some first hand experience. Im curious how the ventilation is when the temperature drops, compared to the more tradionational shoes/materials. Also if the one boa dial matters much at all once on the road. I recently tried these on at a specialist cycling shoe store and they felt fantastic but that doesnt say much about how they react while riding etc.... Of about 20 odd brands the store has, only the Lake cx332/237 and DMT seemed to fit my reasonably wide feet.

Yeah Ive read a few reviews but was hoping for more first hand experience from other cyclists after extensive usage. Plus i heard one story of the stitching comming away from the boa and im hoping its not a common problem.

Interested in this as well. But so far I've read that they are fine because the knit upper stretches and adapts to the feet.
Anybody got tipps on where to buy DMT in the EU for a good price?

Oh man, you almost sold me these shoes!
One thing though, have you seen the bolt holes for the cleats?
Both my Giro Factor and Shimano S-pyre rc9 have a range here..

Just checked their website and there is full adjustability - https://www.dmtcycling.com/en/road/kr1. Your photo may be a fake?

I tried them, first 10 minutes were great. Then slight tingle, then increasing to enormous cramps and pain.in 30 min. Tried for 3 rides with different socks, setup etc but exchanged them for q36.5 shoes in the end. My feet were too wide and apparently just at the edge of "OK when stationary but no room for any swelling during ride".

I have a pair of KR1 but just replaced them with their updated model, the KR0. The only real complaint I had about the KR1 was the single boa. It limited forefoot adjustability. The KR0 is more than a minor update. It is a new sole, which has a bit less built-in arch support, so should fit a wider variety of feet. It's also lighter despite a 2nd boa - it's actually the same weight as a pair of Mavic SL's I have. The US site was having a major sale on these (30-40% off)....

I also saw a Northwave question. I also have a pair of extreme pros. They are substantially wider and would accommodate higher volume feet. I use G20 footbeds in them, which is an indication of their volume (the footbeds are pretty high volume themselves).

DMT recommends going down half a size, which worked for me. 44.5 in the DMT, 45 in Specialized, 45.5 in Sidi (shot) and Northwave (though I'm right between sizes in them).

Since you mentioned the q36.5 shoes, tell me about them! Do the fit a wide foot well? What about a tall toe box, are they roomy? I'd like to try a pair but would have to order on line, I'm in the US. Curious. Pictures?
Thanks!

I’ve tried them and they are clearly a version 1.0 product. They are fairly narrow like most Italian-made shoes. The “tongue” is not long enough and the top Boa wire has to be manually guided over it. The “gel” footbed (basically an Elastic Interface chamois) is weird and I’m guessing they abandon it in the next shoe. It looked well-made, just not well-designed.

Personally I love the Gaerne G.STL for my narrow feet. I have some DMT KR0s coming…will see how they work out.
