You are not looking good enough, there is a reflection on the top of the derailleur that makes it seem like it is smaller but it isnt

Tbh, I'd bet that this is the current DA front derailleur, it just looks different due to weird reflections.

A wider automobile can certainly have a smaller Cd than a narrower one; Cd represents shape with respect to "airflow" from a particular direction - automobiles are generally designed with a much smaller range of airflow directions in mind ('yaw') than bicycles experience, so a low Cd with head on airflow can turn into a much higher Cd with a small change in airflow direction - and the A increases too as the direction changes.....

It's the same case. You are letting the differing reflections in both photos trick your brain.
Like I said a page ago, I'd rather discuss Shimano's business practices than have to repeatedly debunk blurry photos where people only see what they want to see.

If, by removing the FD entirely (plus any cables), and also the small chainring saves 2W, (which sounds reasonable), then just changing the shape of the 9150 FD would save maybe 0.01W......
