However, I am slightly surprised that there have been no rumours so far of 1x, as I would expect that both triathletes and time triallists might prefer that. Maybe it will be an option, but it's just that nobody has specced it on any of the leaked bikes we've seen so far(?).
........
1x has its place, but for "road" it's a tiny niche within a niche.........

i'd love to know how much shimanos hand was forced to bring di2 to 105 by SRAMs introduction of Rival AXS, and when and how they(shimano) became aware of Rival AXS

So what do we think 105 di2 group is the price of Utlegra Mechanical + $300 ??

Frankly for me the 105 di2 offering and price point is the most intriguing

They don't seem to care a great deal about losing big chunks of the market ... because e-bikes.

Think it has more to do with supply chain and cost. It's cheaper to make an electronic groupset, and much more simple to produce one set of electronic SKUs and obtain parts and raw materials for them.

Wow if true, 9100 and 9200 compatibility would create a great opportunity for people to upgrade gradually. Just need a new RD, chain, and cassette to start. That would be fantastic!

No, but I heard SRAM is going to release an option for force and rival to take a MTB cassette and derailleur. A mixed type of gruppo.

You can mix drop bar shifters with MTB rear mech and cassete since 2nd generation of eTap (AXS) is out so 10 or 11 / 50 or 52. Gravel focused option will follow.

Re 1x: I'm not a fan for road use but get bulletins from slowtwitch and it seems lots of pro triathletes are now using it, i.e., at Hawaii.

It would IMHO be super helpful if Shimano would introduce a "road" rear derailleur compatible with their 12 speed MTB cassettes, and if both Shimano and SRAM would make intermediate sized cassettes like 10/11-40/42. (There appears to be some demand for these cassettes across the spectrum from road to gravel to MTB if you can believe what people say in forums.) If Shimano had a 2x-compatible version of this RD so much the better...

Another stupid proprietary charging cable? Why can't Shimano just use USB-C connector instead. :Facepalm

Because it's Shimano and they can sell many expensive special cables instead cheap universal type.

Gotta admit, the proprietary magnetic charger for my Assioma pedals is awesome.

One thing I see, is that I bet more than a few people break off that (likely) plastic charging port cover.

Yeah. Even the Sigeyi PM magnetic charger is sweet. Makes the most sense since there's less likely water ingress.
