13 represents severely diminishing returns on a 2x set-up and it's not enough cogs to match 2x11 with a 1x set-up. I still think the major players will skip x13 entirely and go straight to 1x14.

I would not have an issue with 1x14TobinHatesYou wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2019 3:29 am

Those years quoted are the product availability years. Not the product launches.
The 7800 was officially offered/ shown to tier one OEMs in March 2003, I was there at the closed door event and launched as a 2004 product. I had mine in November 2003.
The 7900 too was shown in March / June 2007. The first sets of 7900 / 7970 were shipped in late October 2008.
As far as I was aware, the 9000 and 9100 folowed almost an exact schedule.
They should be showing the newest groupset behind closed doors at Taipei right now. Expect announcement sometime in April, test review samples / pictures in June or at the Tour. Item released as a 2020 product.
It would be more likely (IMO) that if a product is being unveiled in April it's XTR DI2, or XT 12 speed.
I don't see Shimano releasing a new DA without DM chainrings, and I don't see them bringing forward a release date for DA when they still haven't figured out the manufacturing problems with XTR DM chainrings.
I'm afraid you're mistaken. R9100 was media launched in June 2016, with availability in early 2017. R9000 was media launched in June 2012 with extremely limited late 2012 availability, widespread in early 2013.maxxevv wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2019 6:05 amThe 7800 was officially offered/ shown to tier one OEMs in March 2003, I was there at the closed door event and launched as a 2004 product. If you read closely what I wrote, you would realise that its just like what was scheduled with the 7800 and 7900.Karvalo wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2019 8:19 amI'm afraid you're mistaken. The 9000 and 9100 were following approximately the same timeline in their release.
Which is why I'm saying the new Dura Ace will probably be shown behind closed doors at Taipei right now.

Event in April = picture and presentation time in April then a few weeks embargo so no more news before May or June. And maybe it's just some new wheels, glasses or shoes.....
