Well, ST-R9270 is just not instresting, it is just a switch.Ritxis wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 8:46 am
Shimano says the BT-DN300 is the Master unit of the system..............and has already released the first firmware update for the ST-R9270 https://bike.shimano.com/en-EU/e-tube/p ... l=ST-R9270
There is also version 5.0.2 of E-tube for Windows
As for BT-DN300. yes, it is marked as 'Master unit' on shimano website, but how it really work?
For example, most common operation: gear shift with DN110:
Code: Select all
Switch -> input press PLC message -> BT-DN110 -> gear set PLC message -> Derailleur
Code: Select all
ST-R9270 -> press message(wireless) -> RD-R9250 -> PLC input message -> BT-DN300 -> gear_set PLC message -> RD-R9250
Well, sooner or later they will publish firmware and we'll see how it is really done

Well... this is the future! Today, a bicycle with electronic shifting is the same thing as launching a rocket to the moonMr.Gib wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 4:01 amYou impress me but also leave me asking is this what cycling has become? I admit that nothing old school can compare to my DA 9170 equipped rig, but there is a part of me that misses the simplicity and the overall zen of mechanical bikes (but hey, my first race was in 1979 so...). I hope the 9200 stuff really delivers, though other than better ergonomics of the hoods, I have trouble seeing an argument to upgrade over 91XX. Not even sure I'm keen on the semi-wireless.
However, what I really don't like here is artifical firmware limitations. Shimano sells their derailleurs for a decade with firmware that makes them fixed speed, while they are multi-speed derailleurs in reality.
As for wireless stuff.. I think it would be better if they put some sensors for chain rotation tracking, so RD would know when it needs to move it's cage instead of trying to move it in blind.

Do you have to do that out of the box, i.e. the 9200 arrives with old firmware?
