Was 10sp FD usable with 11sp RD?
I though the shifters can be 10sp. But FD and RD must be in the same family (10 or 11 speed and also road or MTB).
Initially I think it was, I'm pretty sure I went from 10 to 11sp without changing the FD but they later updated the firmware to require 11sp FD.
Going by past experience it may be a good idea to move relatively quickly to either obtain all the correct firmware or make the switch though.

I'm not familiar enough with the desktop E-tube software and too lazy to check but I believe that's possible.

11sp rear derailleur could be a firmware upgrade away from being a 12sp rear derailleur

initially, FD-6770 was compatible with RD-9070.............. Shimano eliminated the compatibility (e-tube version 2.6.0 or later)
I suppose (I DO NOT affirm) that by characteristics of the FD-6770, with respect to the chain crossing with cassettes of 11, the FD-6770 does not have electrical adjustment (largest chainring/sprocket position)

Personally I find it disappointing that broader availability will begin in fall. Even late fall at that.

I am moving back to the UK in August so i have been emailing a lot of places in the UK and some places in Europe; all have told me there has been a month or two delay, end of quarter 3 for DA Di2.

Well, you'd know. Since you're the inside man at Shimano, right ?

compatibility groups???? 11 (shifters) with the new of 12 (derailleurs)..................

viewtopic.php?p=1668752#p1668752

But more importantly, compatiblity with old tri hydraulic shifter ST-R9180 confirms compatiblity with rim brake shifters
ST-R9180 can be wired and can be powered by new battery BT-DN300, so
ST-6770, ST-6870, ST-R8050, ST-R9070, ST-R9150 can also be used like that
(full set of di2 adapters included in the listing)
That would be so sensible and consumer friendly, that I cannot believe it'll actually happen.

If they are really compatible with old Di2 parts, this is going to be amongst the cheapest and easiest upgrade paths to 12sp. Keep old shifters and FD, add new RD, cassette + 12sp chain and done(?!?) If brake calipers are significantly improved, throw that into the mix, optionally. Maybe just the front one at that. Might need to change the freehub body I suppose as well, but this is not a major expense. When and if a shifter goes out, only then replace it with the new wireless unit. But all in all, quite a small financial outlay, all things considering.
I think I remember reading in this thread from a few posters in the know that the front combos will be 50/34, 52/36, 53/39 and a 55 or 54/42.

The first three are identical to what's currently out and if the new items are like most electronics that has ports to allow wired and wireless connects, then that would make a lot of sense (being able to use 11 speed components with 12 speed derailleur, chain cassette etc).

That would also be great for people that like to use non shimano components like rotor cranks, chain rings etc.

I guess we will find out this summer.

Rotor??? Why?? I need/want my bike fully functional, not full of noises and problems :noidea: :noidea:
Lol.....I'm just a fan of Q-rings and 2inpower meter.

Would hardly be surprising if it slipped another quarter or two - again.

They recently announced new SLX, XT and XTR parts .... Some of which they said would begin availability, wait for it, 1 year hence in Q2 '22 .... 🤕

Shimano have some big problems ...
