That’s a really weird argument KGT; aerodynamics still matter if you have a motor; why do you need to have an upright position; why can;t you have aero wheels and a motor?
Slightly tangential but its like someone who has a hearing aide - they are skin toned so they blend in; we dont make people who have hearing aides where things the colour of the rainbow so they stick out a mile....if an old dude wants to buy a bike with a motor in then let him; you dont need to force him to be an outcast

In Europe an e-bike can only assist with 250w and up to 25 km/h. Otherwise it has to be insured and registered as a moped.
Some of the folks I know that have started using e-road bikes can sustain 30/35 km/h in favourable circumstances (dragging in a group, windless flats) for a period of time. The electric power kicks in when things get tough.
They also appreciate a bike that lets them train/ride in their usual sporty position. They want a road bike and being able to do long, hilly rides;they just happen to have lost the sustained power to do so, because of age or some condition.
I can easily relate to them. I see myself in my 70’s doing the same (fingers crossed). If only my dad could also ( he got Parkinson before e-road bikes where a thing)

I'm sure 99% of amateurs can produce a minuscule amount of power compared to pros. What's the point of buying anything above a Decathlon bike with Tiagra then? Just to look cool?

Calnago, So how do you like the hub drive? I know that Pinarello offers the same style. Would seem to me that changing a flat would be an incredible nuisance?

I don’t really know much at all about it yet. It’s a friend’s, who before this bike (Orbea Gain), couldn’t really keep up enough to make any group ride enjoyable for her. This changes that. I am now all alone at the back

But I will get a chance to properly violate this bike in the privacy of my own garage soon enough, so perhaps I’ll create a thread and we can all learn about and experience it together. In the meantime... you’d hardly know that one of these bikes has 250watts of free power on tap...
Ha, I used to say that the best thing about about the huge pieplate cassettes being put on road bikes these days was that they hid the ugliness of the the disc brake on the other side. Now I say, the best thing about disc brakes is that they hide the ugliness of that massive rear hub in the middle. Stop the madness. Or embrace it.

Sorry but if you choose to ride a 15kg bike neither aerodynamics nor carbon wheels will make it easier. Only electric power will.
Anyway, I can accept that some people might just prefer an e-bike that also looks sexy. I am fine with that.

Without question utterly gorgeous and definitly the prettiest e-bike out there. Complete home run if you are looking for an electric racing bike.
Should have gotten Cancellara tongue in cheek for marketing. Just kidding, just kidding!
