Hey!
Given all the ebikes I’m seeing around lately it’s not surprising, although a Colnago e-bike just seems a bit wrong somehow. I’ve just set a nice lady up on one of the Orbea Gain bikes. Looks kinda like a regular bike until you pick it up. Never knew 26lbs could feel so heavy. I told her “Well, I guess this will make me officially the slowest member of our group now”. But I also told her she better hope she never runs out of juice or it’s gonna be a tough slog back. Especially if there’s hills involved.
Colnago C64 - The Naked Build; Colnago C60 - PR99; Trek Koppenberg - Where Emonda and Domane Meet;
Unlinked Builds (searchable): Colnago C59 - 5 Years Later; Trek Emonda SL Campagnolo SR; Special Colnago EPQ

OK, OK, if you are old and/or disabled then ebikes make sense. Eventually when I'm even older and if Planet Earth hasn't become the same as Venus I might get one.

But urrggh. What a waste of components that could have been used on a proper bike. But at least it hasn't got Campagonolo Bora Ultras on it to rub salt in the wound.

I've got a motorized bike in my Garage that can put out 50,000 watts, it's called a Kawasaki.

It’s hardly like the existence of this bike means others can’t be made.

They’re here, they’re selling like mad and they’re not going anywhere. We can all still ride our bikes.

I figure I'm about 15 or 20 years away from a bike like this. Unfortunately the mandated speed limits on these bikes make them less than fun. If I was say 70, I'd just want an extra 100 watts no matter how fast I was going just to keep up with the youngsters on a club ride or get up a hill instead of struggling.

This review makes it sound like these bikes currently don't work like I'd want them to:

I'm surprised the E64 is based on their flagship C64. I suppose I would have been less shockeed by its existance if it was based on the CRS or CLX. I also am eager to know if these frames and tubes are being produced in Cambiago, Italy and if they have changed the C64 in any way to streamline the production/supply stream processes?

What impresses me most about ebikes is that they don’t look like ebikes as much anymore. Now some of it may still be color and camera angle trickery, but some of the road bikes are hard to tell.

A road racing electric bike is a contradiction IMHO. If you are not fit enough to power it by yourself then just buy a scooter. Or something like that:

While you're riding your Colnago, do you pretend that you're Giuseppe Saronni?
