Light road Qr skewers: What's reasonable for racing purposes ?
Moderator: robbosmans
Went from Zipp Skewer that came with my wheel to Tune DC. Had to re align my brake centering every damn ride, swapped it back to the zipp skewers and issues went away. Also had a dura ace skewers on other bike and that is rock solid, easy to engage and disengage albeit a bit on the heavy side.
Hey has anyone tried these skewers?

I have used the Planet X Ti ones for the last 10 years without issue but they are no longer listed on their site.
If I need to replace them I'll give the Wiggle lifeline ones a try at 42g the pair.

I don't think anyone has tried something that hasn't shipped yetTooslow wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 1:10 amHey has anyone tried these skewers?

I replaced my stock shimano skewers (137g iirc) with campagnolo I had from another wheelset (55g). Not the lightest but something you can very easily feel, that I already had lying around
On the product page it says they are in stock ready to ship.maurice1 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 9:16 amI don't think anyone has tried something that hasn't shipped yetTooslow wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 1:10 amHey has anyone tried these skewers?

Yeah the normal Styx. Can't say how these are, i would go for the standard Styx no question because they will be stiffer.Tooslow wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 1:11 amHey has anyone tried these skewers?

Simple: thick Ti axles, avoid at all cost thin or recessed axles.
I never had issues going light on the front but for the rear I didn’t like them.
If you look for weight I would go for “carbon Ti” style (under Fournier, Risk or similar brand for example) for the front and Mavic or Corima at the rear.
The Mavic benefit from the best clamp I know, the Corima has the thickest axle I know (but as the normal external clamp).
