Dura-Ace center mount vs direct mount brakes

I am wondering whether the Dura-Ace direct mount brake is really just the same as Dura-Ace center mount brake except for the additional piece of hardware that converts it to the center mount? If we were to disassemble a center mount brake and take the convertion hardware away, can we then uses the brakes as a direct mount brakes? Is the highlighted distance the same between the direct mount brakes vs center mount brakes?

It wont work, even if the measurements line up theres no way to mount them.

Because as you ce see in the picture the DM brakes have a bolt that threads into a blind hole in the frame. There is no way to tighten a bolt blind blind.

Well, the DM brakes can similarly threads into the converter hardware of center mount with a lock nut?

No. The back spacing will be way off. Just buy the correct style of brake.
