I use a regular Scotch pad and use the rough end (green side) to clean my Ti frames.

Can you post the frame weight?

Congrats on the purchase and looking forward to the build.

Hello MerlinXLM Image

The 3M 7447 gives THE best result.

I have used it since I got the information from Litespeed and Seven.

Try to contact 3M UK since they can guide you to a dealer. ........maybe the Bay could be a solution Image

Good luck ImageImageImage

When the bike is ready and you think it is a keeper I can direct you to some totally bling for the frame Image (something that lookes VERY good to complete the build)

That sounds great, I do think it’s a keeper. Had a Merlin XLM a few years back. But has to give up cycling, so sold the lot. Regretting it now, best bike I ever had, this one reminds me of it. So nice, totaly striped the frame, and another clean. Weight was not to bad, quite a bit heavier than my carbon Lapierre frame, but so much nicer. I’ll have to change the seat post clamp, so heavy.

That is a really nice weight

You have to take in to account that includes the heavy head set cups.

My custom traditional 57,5 was about 1250 including front mech hanger and seat post binder etc.

So you have a nice platform for at light build

That's a very good weight for a Ti frame. A good WW project.

Buffed a small section of the frame tonight. Wow what an improvment, I’ll have to order the decals tonight. One question, do I put the Pledge on after or before fitting the decals? And any tips or advice on fitting the new decals?

Do any UK members know where I can buy a set of decals for my 2005 Vortex compact? The shipping charges from the US, costs more than the decals them self?

Thank you.

I contacted Litespeed UK, they advised me that they can order the decals from the US, 5 weeks delivery. Should be ready for the summer time?

I like these frames without decals. Go stealth!

To be honest with you, I hadn’t thought of that. What are people’s thought on the stealth look?

My Ti frame (Titus Solera) has the stealth look ... just kept the headtube badge et one sticker on the toptube, I really like that look.

Remember, Ti does not need stickers, it has its own soul

Get the decals - the bike will look FAST.

That raw/stealth look is just boring and all the frames look the same without decals. You can not see if it is a Litespeed or a cheap Chinese knockoff Image

When people respray a carbon Colnago they always include new decals.

Get the decals!!!!!!!

Look at my Vortex - not boring to look at Image (I know I am not objective here Image)

When you have brushed the frame with the 3M wash it and wipe the frame with alcohol and apply the decals.

You can use a hairdryer to make the decals stick easier and make them adapt the tube shape better.

You will not regret the decals.

All the best

Heyyy MerlinXLM

.....here is a 6,38kg Vortex Compact with 2004 decals instead of the 2005 Compact decals.

Any way it looks good with decals.
