With 110 BCD, it seems that something along the lines of 33/46 or 34/48 should be possible as long as they can match the new chains roller diameter. Has anyone ran across aftermarket compatible 2x12 AXS compatible chainrings? Surely someone will want a better option than $300 replament chainrings and allowing all the 110BCD cranks to be upgraded to AXS drivetrain.

To new for aftermarket. Yo niche as well. If you can afford axs you can afford the spares.
If it trickles down then cheap aftermarket will become available.

Wait until April, when SRAM announces Force eTap (I'm assuming it'll be AXS). Red AXS is too new to have really hit the aftermarket, and I'm sure the R&D guys at all the aftermarket ring manufacturers (and chain guys) are just barely getting their hands on the products.

One reason for sram not offering the chainrings is to control the shift quality by insisting buyers to use their ring spacing and ring combinations.

However, they also want to sell groups so something should eventually become available however reluctantly that may be. :D

I think sram is tired to have the worst front shifting so they are probably making a move to improve their reputation.

Personally I like sram groups a lot and I'll continue to use them.

I like the idea of using a standard compact crank 50/34 with their 10-33t cassette, that'd be a neat range.

I sent a few requests. Have two answers for now:

Garbaruk: Our chainrings is not compatible with Red AXS chain. We are planning to release compatible ring in mid-late Spring 2019.
Wolftooth: Our current tooth profile is not compatible with the AXS 12 speed chain. Look us up in a month if your looking for a 1X ring and we should have something ready.

But both offers only 1x NW chainrings. I still waiting for responses from 2x chainrings manufacturers.

UPD: Got response from absoluteblack: "we are planning on making such rings."

If they really want market share, they should offer upgrade kits for 11sp systems(FD/RD with new motor and shifter's).

Sram is stating a much longer lifespan on the AXS chainrings, only time will tell if this is true, but it would average out the cost in the long run.

By this do you mean selling the customer an entirely new groupset?

I'd buy a new FD/RD with the upgraded motor to use with the original shifter's and add the new versions for the app connectivity at a later date. It's all a dream as the Sram booth at the NAHBS said this will never happen.

Wow, they are really cool, bit pricey but certainly worth saving up for! Shame Garbaruk or Wooftooth haven't come up with something similar in aluminium, I know a number of people who would love to go AXS 12 speed but have already invested in nice cranks, powermeters and bottom brackets which until now, haven't compatible! TYhanks for sharing this, very interesting! :-D

Have you tried the AXS chain on current 11 speed rings? I put one on a Campy 11 crank, very briefly and had no problems. I've ridden the AXS chain hundreds of miles on campy 12 cranks with no problem.

Yes, I did!! No, it did not fit at all
It was an AXS Force chain on a Carbon-Ti 11sp Carbo 52/38T chainrings. I was just trying my luck but needed to prove myself wrong. Now waiting for the delivery of the new Carbon-Ti AXS chainrings to mod all my 11sp crank (BCD110/5holes), THM, SWORKS & etc... didn't really like the new Red AXS crankset.

On a separate matter, anyone riding the new AXS 48/35T (supposedly same as semi-compact 52-36T) and feel is a lot harder to pedal and very tiring?? I built a new bike BMC TMR01 with the all new Red AXS full groupset and i didn't enjoy the ride since Day 1. IT has been the fourth rides on the same bike and despite how i tweaked it, it felt the same. I will change to 46-33T next as the last resort. Any sharing on this will be much appreciated....
