I've ridden all winter, which has been extremely wet, with a set of tubular training wheels. The front is an older CX model and the rear is the current Vittoria G+ Graphene tubular. The G+ tire is looking like the casing is seperating in 4 or 5 places. There are bulges and the tire looks like it's going to blow apart.

The older front tire looks perfect, except for wear on the tread.

Looks to me like the G+ Graphene model is suseptable to prolonged wet conditions.

Anyone else notice this about the G+ Graphenes?

Not personally. I’ve been riding the G+ all year round for the last 2 years, no issues like that. Email them, must be a faulty batch

Weird, the casing is probably glued on, is it the glue that has given up?
I guess you haven't been riding through acetone baths.
Would be interesting to "hear" what Vittoria replies to this!

Is this what you were referring to? Happened to me recently, but still riding it at the moment. I emailed vittoria and they asked me to contact the local distributor instead without any elaboration. Image

Oh shite.... If that little sheet of a casing gets loose, it's probably a risk you lose grip and the rest is no funny business :-(
Guess i'm going to ride these tires with a risk of pooping myself everytime i corner :?

Thanks for the recomendation. I contacted Vittoria USA and a replacement is on its way.

While the rep was very nice, I could not get a response regarding the notion of a bad batch. I didn't want to push for obvious reasons.

The rubber tire tread started to delaminate early on and then the failure of the casiing happened a few weeks later.

The tire became scary wobbly as it was very deformed at 90 psi.

I'm hoping they have gotten this sorted out as I love the tire.

I've comsumed at least 6 or so graphene tires and never had this happen.

Have you been riding on a wheel-on trainer? I’ve seen that happen to people who been using them as a trainer tyre and glue has been melted due high temperatures created by friction.

It's weird, Vittoria is such a huge brand. Well, same goes for Shimano and their failed DA9000/Ul6800 cranks and DA 9000 cassettes.
It worries me, the worst scenario would be a crash and i just wonder... who would reimburse a bike severaly damaged!?

Has anyone found a rim to match a Zipp 303? Tubular tire, disc brake, 28 hole. External width is 25mm and height is 46 mm.

I hear ya! All the more reason to check your equipment after each ride (gives you time to swap), which I've not always been attentive enough in the past.

If the thread is seperation that won't be the casing bulging. It's not likely to result in a crash.

From the picture, the rim looks wildly too wide for the tubular.

I have had all but one of my Corsa G+ "separate" either the rubber band from the casing at some point (same as Kayrehn's picture) . Or the grey finish peel off from the casing...
I'll stick with Veloflex or Continental from now on.

Louis :)
