I'm pretty disappointed in the width of my 32's - they are only measuring 31mm (Checked with Calipers) on an 17C internal width Rim. Maybe .3mm wider than 28mm GP4's on the same rim.

I was hoping for at least 32 - the bike can clear 34's - but I don't know of any really good racing tire that goes that big. I think Bontrager makes one in an lower level R3 version but that's about it.

The 32 on my 21C rim measures exactly 33mm. Perhaps yours will widen a bit after some stretching. The GP4K 28 is grossly mismarked.

I think Conti have their labelling correct. 10 years ago, when the GP4000 was released, the typical wheel was 15C internal width. the GP4000 was labelled based on tyre measurements on typical 2009 wheels.

In 2019, 17C internal width is the minimum on new release wheels, 19C is common, and 21C is increasing. Continental has labelled the tyres for typical widths on 2019 spec wheels.

Others with 32mm GP5K are measuring widths of 33mm on 20C HED and 20C Stans Grail rims. A wider set of wheels opens the same clincher up to create a wider tyre.

If you want to stay with 17C rims and want to max out your frame clearance with a 34mm tyre, take a look at the Rene Herse Bon Jon Pass. They will measure 35mm wide and 33mm high on a 17C rim. The Extra Light version weighs 298g and they roll fast. I ran a set last year, great tyres.

Picking up a gravel bike, but wanted some road wheels so it can pull double duty. 28mm GP5Ks mounted on 20c rims measured out to a lil over 30mm brand new, prob go over 31mm after they stretch. Perfect for what I wanted for this setup, comfort combined with a touch of speed. I'll still have my aero bike for when I want all out speed.

I find the 5000’s mount/dismount so much easier than the 4000’s. And god bles them as they measure a true 25 at 70psi on 17.5 internal rims. My aero rims are happy, and i get the crr benefit too. Mind you, the new 25 measures near the same as the old 23

If I was to buy the new GP5000 which size would most compare to the GP4000 in 25mm size, 25mm or 28mm?

Reason I ask is there's a size difference and the new 28mm seems to be very similar to the old 25mm.

Anyone experience of these?

Yes, the GP5000 28mm is closest in size to the GP4000 25mm

The 28s are 1mm wider than the old 25s. And the new 32s are also about the same size as the old 28s.

Thanks, I think I'll get the 28mm version as it seems a closer match

Mounted GP5000 700x25 clincher tires to the LB 56 deep 30 external 23 internal rims. At 80psi they measure 28.19 perfect for the 105% rule even with a little stretching.
Just about to pull the trigger on some LB56's and looking to run GP5000 28s on them. Hoping to find some data that show's the 28C 5k will be less than 32mm for clearance purposes.

28mm GP5Ks will barely measure over 29mm even on the widest road rims.

911.7 Km so far on my Continental GP 5000 clinchers (32mm wide), and loving them! .... I've been using them on my commute bike (40Km/day), and have ridden on potholed roads, through broken glass in the city and in torrential rain ....

they still look brand new. Pity they don't have these in 38mm wide as my bike can fit 40mm tyres with my mudguards

Is the sizing comparable between TL and clincher? (Sorry, I know this is the non-TL thread) My 28mm GP5k TLs measured 30.5mm on 22mm internal road wheels, right after first install (haven't checked for stretch since).
