ee brakes direct mount front/rear differences?
Moderator: robbosmans
Hi wws
My friend with a 2016 rim brake emonda slr frame is looking for brakes.
I've found single ee brakes sold cheaper than the pair.
The question is then, how can I determine if they can be used together? Do ee direct mount brakes come in front/rear or are they universal?
I'm adding pictures of the two brakes I'm thinking about buying.
Additionally, how does the previous version compare to the latest when it comes to:
stopping power
weight
These previous versions are sold at 75% of the price of the latest version. Isn't it worth it?
Thank you!

they can be universal (if they fit) some of the rears are "uglier" which usually get placed on bikes with under BB brakes.

cane creek sells different models for direct mount front/seatstay, direct mount seatstay - short lever, and direct mount chainstay.
The sku for direct mount front/seatstay implies that same model could be used front and rear. The seatstay - short lever model is for bikes with clearance issues, typically smaller frames.

Whatever differences there may be between the actual calipers front and rear or current version vs non current version, the emonda frame will not be a hindrance. Where fitting problems more often crop up is with very small frames and/or dropped seat stays.

yes, for mounting under chain stays.
But for Emonda, if on seat stays, you need to use the same as the front caliper.
