Look Keo compatible cleats - metal o-rings

would it be OK if i installed the cleats on the Look Keo compatible cleats without those oblong metal rings supporting the cleat/screw attachment? Would the force of cycling rip the plastic at the cleats mounting?

By using the metal rings you distribute the force of the bolt more evenly and you won't crack the plastic. Why would you want to install without?

I have had an idiot acquaintance install the cleats without the washers. You'll never guess what happened.

Haha, do you really think each washer weighs <1g? :p

Just weighed 6 of them. 14g total.

Nah I was guessing 2.5g each.. And assumed 2 washers... I guess I made an Ass of U and Me!

OK - thanks - good advice. I've installed them now. Just thought i could save a few more grams......!!!
