Can you compare the difference in ride specifically on this bike from 25mm to 28 mm tires?

I have the 4.5’s so I can’t put 25mm tires on this bike. So, my only experience with 25s on a TCR was on the short test ride at the shop. But it’s the same comparison as the Defy with 25s. Much more comfortable, you can even take it on gravel or dirt roads, and no loss of speed. There really isn’t a reason not to make the switch to tubeless 28’s and I think you’ll be seeing a lot more of those size tires in the pro peloton in the coming years because there is no loss in overall performance.

Since my Giant Gavia 25mm AC 0 tubeless tires are new with only two short rides in them I’m inclined to ride them this season and buy a set of 28mm next season, barring any failure of these tires. I think tubeless tire technologies are continuing to develop, so waiting a year might present some newer options in tire selection as well. My first post / comment on weight weenies but I thought I'd start by sharing the info I was looking for that lead me to join.
I've just fitted 28mm GP5000TLs to my 2020 TCR SL and have taken measurements and have pics!
Fitting Experience:
I've only been cycling 6 months so have only really fitted a few tyres before on my old 2013 TCR, all with tubes.
I used 2x plastic continental tyre leavers, bucket of soapie water and a chux
Before fitting as tubeless I took the tyres out and hung them in the sun. I then pre fitted them to one rim with an inner tube and inflated to 100PSI. (Read it somewhere that it would help get them stretched to shape and seal better as tubeless) I was also waiting on sealant to arrive so had some time to kill that day.
Removed and re fitted them with 40ml of stans race sealant, and the sponge and soap on the edge of the rubber in between the two tyre leavers.
It took some patience and a positive hold but they did squeeze on ok if lubed with soapie water and you pull the tyre over a bit while rotating the leavers. Then I cleaned up the surface and hit them initially with DIY 40psi bottle of air, and finished off with a floor pump.
They are tight though!
Currently they hold air perfectly.
Clearance:
Inflated to 80psi
Front - 4mm at the top
- 3mm either sides
Rear- 6-7mm towards the bottom bracket
4mm either side.
Inflated GP5000TL on the stock 17mm giant SLR wheels measured 28mm wide.
They ride super well. I'm 78kg and am now running 74psi rear and 70PSI front.
Super comfy, lots of grip, noticeably smoother than the oem 25mm cadex tyres (got a big hole at 240km of riding - wouldn't seal and tyre plug won't hold - maybe because tyre compound)
Significantly smoother than 25mm with burial tubes, no comparison. Rough roads, lane markings etc and it feels like you are riding a MTB.
